A Poem
Lavash Crackers - What can I say?
My love for flour yeast and Water
It has come to a halt
And Lavash Crackers it's all your fault
I mixed the flour and water with loving intent
I kneaded for ten minutes
But away my interest went
It was promising at first
Satiny, well risen dough
But rolling you out- Whoa
I saw you could make pita
You perked my interest a bit
But the final product - tasted like (insert cuss word here)(Not really but it rhymes)
I rolled – you resisted
I knew this might be the case
But heck, you didn't even try
It was like a slap in the face
Sure maybe I wasn't into you
You could feel my coldness right away
Crackers Meh! I should have stuck with the bagel
What can I say
I could start with
It's not you, it's me
Let's just be friends
You've got a great personality
But really I should just be upfront...
I want to see other breads
The End
Lol! The love affair will probably continue soon. I have made the Light Wheat before and it has been a go to recipe for a while. I thought I might be in trouble when I saw Lavash Crackers. But I didn't want to skip any recipes. I want to make them all – in order. I was excited when I saw that you could make pita with the dough. I didn't have good luck with that idea. I will stick with my go to recipe for pita. It made an OK flat bread. We toasted and ate it with hummus. Also made some manaeesh with Za'atar (Forgot to take pics though)
So not all is lost. But I am glad I tried the recipe. One day, when I need home made crackers for a catering gig, I will possibly try again.
The Bread Bakers Apprentice is an amazing book. I encourage everyone to add it to your collection of most used books. It has a bounty of information! Also, thanks to all my fellow BBA'ers for stopping by...You all rock!
So as my love affair simmers on the back burner, I will get ready for my date with the Light Wheat and Marbled Rye...sounds promising. And, if not, I could always revisit some of my past dates I have stored in the freezer.
Happy baking!
Don't ever give up on something or someone that you can't go a full day without thinking about.

So sorry your crackers gave you a hard time! Your fiasco made for great prose, so something positive did come out of this experience.
Thanks for making me laugh today.
I love reading your poems. I also had a "meh" attitude to this bread. It was good, but not worth the trouble. Oh, I can't wait until you get to Pain a L'Ancienne!
Whoops! It wasn't a bread, but a set of crackers! No wonder you couldn't fall in love!
Loving your love affairs, even when they don't go so well. (I had a heck of a time rolling the dough out for crackers, but we ate 'em up!)
LOL! Love your poem. Read it to DH and he laughed, too. I haven't made this particular cracker before, but have made others and loved them. So my curiosity is piqued. I have the book...will have to give the recipe a try. Thanks for the post. And have fun with the rest of the BBA challenge! ~~Rhonda
